2 years old tomorrow!

Tomorrow is this blogs second birthday! I really can not believe that I have done this for 2 years. It all started as a whim on my 41st birthday, I wanted to mark the passing of the year and thought that a blog showing a picture a day would be dead easy, it turn out to be one of the hardest things I had ever done.

Looking back after 2 years i can see some really big changes in me and my photography. I’ve been taking pictures for around 20 years and up to the start of the blogs had less than 100 good images, in the last 2 years I’ve published on the blogs around 890 images and indirectly through an increase in my photographic work could add another 250 images to that figure, over ten times the images in nearly a tenth of the time!

I’ve written over 100,000 words, not a bad feat for someone who in the first few months of this blog discovered he was dyslexic. Some of the post even got recognised as writing in their own right, instead of just filler to go with the pictures.

Over all the blogs I have had nearly 100,000 hits from 167 countries and have met (in a virtual way) some very interesting and diverse people from around the word, some of them I would now call friends.

Would I do this again? Well no, I will keep this going as it has over the last year and the Leek photo blog will not change either, but to attempt to do a blog like this one for a whole year without a break, not on your life.
Would I recommend someone else to do it, yes, but beware it will take a year of your life. 175,000 blogs are started each day and over 95% will fail, so it’s not easy.
I have to go and enjoy my weekend now hope you all do the same.

Congratulations! I wasn't there at the very start, but have enjoyed all the photos, almost without exception.

Great shot of the trees and great blog. To post a photo each day would be tough but... to find some thing to talk about every single day for a year would be sooo hard!

I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Have you ever put something off, that you really should have done, I have, getting assessed for dyslexia. Nearly my whole life I have had problems spelling, and have done every thing to avoid getting tested, why, because I was scared that I would not have it and be told I was just thick or lazy. Well yesterday I got tested, and the results surprised me. First I was informed that my reading ability was good to high, next I was informed that I have an IQ of over 120 (140 and over Genius or near genius 120-140 Very superior intelligence 110-120 Superior intelligence 90-110 Normal or average intelligence 80-90 Dullness 70-80 Borderline deficiency Below 70 Definite feeble-mindedness 70-80 Borderline deficiency 50-69 Moron 20-49 Imbecile below 20 Idiot.)
