Manners

Good manners (I feel a rant coming on), have you noticed that there seems to be a lack of these now days. Its funny but I only thought about the lack of them after experiencing a real old fashion example. Caz and I were out walking on Sunday when an old chap walked past us, he was dressed casually with a baseball cap on and as he passed Caz he tipped his cap at her. The effect on Caz was wonderful; it put such a smile on her face mostly because it was so unexpected and so old worldly, a real blast from the past. In a time when most people walk through you with out a second glance it was really special to be treated this way, in fact it has made me smile just thinking of it, so much so that I refuse to waste time ranting about the ignoramuses out there, including the spammer who posted 10 comments on one post last night.

The next lesson on the photo course is now up, I’m sorry its took so long but time seems to be flying by so fast at the moment, all these holidays off work filling up my days.

Yes, I can 'rant' about lack of manners too, for example when you go in an eating place and it's not too busy and the person/people working there don't smile, say hello or do anything helpful, and then when you leave they can't even be bothered to look up and say 'thanks, goodbye'.

I completely agree. We even select our supermarket on the basis of how good mannered the staff is, and good mannered here means 'has an understanding about normal interpersonal communication'... sometimes people won't even look at you or say hello, it's so rude.

It would have put a huge smile on my face too Brett. That is something that is 'rare'.

When we first arrived at our RV campsite in New Orleans - the manager shook my hand and called me 'Miss Aims'. I almost swooned.

btw - Is Polergirl alright? I'm worried about her.

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. An even smaller period of time is the length of time we have been able to accurately measure things like temperature or the size of the ice caps, so to be able to say that things are changing outside of the norm, when we really have no idea what the norm is, is like seeing a snow flake and predicting the start of an ice age. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. Have you ever put something off, that you really should have done, I have, getting assessed for dyslexia. Nearly my whole life I have had problems spelling, and have done every thing to avoid getting tested, why, because I was scared that I would not have it and be told I was just thick or lazy. Well yesterday I got tested, and the results surprised me. First I was informed that my reading ability was good to high, next I was informed that I have an IQ of over 120 (140 and over Genius or near genius 120-140 Very superior intelligence 110-120 Superior intelligence 90-110 Normal or average intelligence 80-90 Dullness 70-80 Borderline deficiency Below 70 Definite feeble-mindedness 70-80 Borderline deficiency 50-69 Moron 20-49 Imbecile below 20 Idiot.) They have changed the lower classification for a more PC wording but this is the original. Lastly I was informed that I am Dyslexic and my writing and spelling were well below what my intelligence suggested (that why it takes me forever
