Today is Oscar day, and in keeping with the event I would just like to thank a few people.

My mum, without whom I would just not be here, thanks mum.

Heather and Andy, for the fantastic birthday present, I will share it with Caz, she loved it too.

Sue, Sofa, Heather and Scott for the books, just what I wanted.

Sandra, Sam and Trevor, again just what I needed as you know. Also thanks for the wonderful weekend and the meal out, I’m still stuffed!

And finally Caz and Kep for letting me have time off from the house work to type this up.

Good luck to all the Brits up for an Oscar tonight, Julie Christie, Cate Blanchett, Daniel Day-Lewis and the films Atonement and Peter & the Wolf.

HI BRETT! Nice photo! I may have had extremely damp legs (that hasn't happened for a while :-) but it was still great fun. It always is with you three! It's just rain, it washes off. Thank you all for your generous hospitality and for showing us a great weekend - again, you always do, and we love you for it.

I may be no judge of the technical aspects of good photography but photos play a large part in my life - nothing to do with technique and everything to do with the memories, emotions and feelings they bring. Thank you for being in so many of my photos.

I can't agree with you more, my best photos would not win anything as they only mean something to me, or the others in them.

Absolutely.

A photo is a treasured memory. I can never bring myself to through out old ones - even when the content is rubbish.

But some i will look at and they bring a smile on.

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. An even smaller period of time is the length of time we have been able to accurately measure things like temperature or the size of the ice caps, so to be able to say that things are changing outside of the norm, when we really have no idea what the norm is, is like seeing a snow flake and predicting the start of an ice age. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. You known how it is, you’ve loads to do and not much time, but with a little luck and a bit of careful planning and you can fit it all in and than someone makes you BLOG OF NOTE!!!!!! WOW, Arghhhhhhhhhh!. From around 25 readers to 3451 by the end of the day, and what a post to have on the blog, I nearly did not write it, it was very personal and maybe too private to share, but I known that there are others, like me, out there and thought that if it just helped one person it made the risk worth while, well its shared now.
