Palestine 1 Israel 271

In the season of peace and goodwill to all men, the guardian of some of the worlds most holy sites, Israel, has celebrated it by launching over 100 air strikes against the Gaza strip.
This is the same Gaza strip that they have been blockading for months, cutting off vital services and disrupting the flow of much need medical and humanitarian supplies, much needed now that they have nearly 1000 casualties to cope with after the air strikes. All these attacks are in response to rocket attack fired at them, around 70, which have lead to the death of 1 Israeli. Israel claim these rocket attacks are wrong, which is correct, and that they have been going on for a number of years, which is also correct.
But Israel has been occupying the Palestinian territories for 40 years and is in direct defiance of UN resolutions, they are suppose to be a civilised nation stale not some central African dictatorship throwing its weight about. Israel is a democracy and as such all its citizens are responsible for its actions, there is an election in a few months, lets see if they can be as brave as the USA and vote for change.

It should always be a time for 'peace and goodwill to all men' and I do think what it going on in the world is atrocious and that Palestine is just as bad as Israel when it comes to bombings, but I do find it a bit ironic that you refer to Christmas and imply that Israel's bombings are all the more severe due to that when Israel is a Jewish country and Palestine is Islamic - nothing to do with Christmas!

I did not want it to sound as if i was linking the increase in bombing because it was Christmas, but it the people of that area had got their act together this time of year could be there biggest money spinner, how many Christians would love to spend time(and money) in the holy land at this time of year.

We voted for change, yes, but I don't think that will include a change in our policies regarding Israel. This is one of those cases that I will never understand - how the oppressor is viewed as the oppressee by most people is astounding to me (in my country anyway, I'm not sure how Europeans feel about this).

Careful with generalisations. While I agree that this tit for tat thing is long in the tooth, and someone needs to step up to start the winds of change. This history of this animosity is long. Snapshots of the current state (even in the last few years), does not fully explain it all.

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. You known how it is, you’ve loads to do and not much time, but with a little luck and a bit of careful planning and you can fit it all in and than someone makes you BLOG OF NOTE!!!!!! WOW, Arghhhhhhhhhh!.
