too much pressure

There are times when I’m my own worst enemy and this is one of them. I don’t put my self out much, to do anything out side of my normal job is very rare for me, but a month ago I nominated my department for our internal award scheme. This was a big step for me as it involved writing 150 words that had to sum up a department of 80+ people by me a new found dyslexic. Still I did it and we are now through to the next stage and I have been asked to write the submission. To put this into perspective, there’s a lot riding on this, first department pride, to win would be a giant feather in our cap as it always has been to win this award, second, money; there is a prize that goes to the winning team and third with talk of a merger floating around earlier this year, to win would help secure the departments position with in the company. So pride, cash and our jobs on the line, no pressure then! The submission involves 1500 words highlighting why we are the best and needs to be in by Wednesday, so on top of my normal job I’m trying to develop a corporate writing style and get it all done without impacting on my customers.
I would be happy if that was the only thing I had going on but, I am also working on a hush hush photography project that is taking up hours and hours of my free time and has a very tight dead line, but more of that in the new year!
Photo today taken this time yesterday around our local canal.

good luck with the entry - sounds like it'd be cool to win.

And the photo is great - I'm in staffordshire next week, hope it still looks like that!
Image is delightfully picturesque. I still say canals are underated. Ok I have to ask but what is your job? To me you are a photographer and I have difficulty picturing you confined to an office. This is from someone who was formally confined to an office an and broke out the window and became a fully fledged photographer. I know someone, an accountant who uses special software for his writing, re his dyslexia. Not sure if it applies but he now has no fear of the written text for his clients. Good luck, done the old corporate stuff, can be hairy, but obviously I'm mega intigued re the hush hush photography project.

oh, there's snow on your side of the world. Lucky you.
Good luck with both projects, Brett. Like babooshka, I'm intrigued by the photo project and shall stay tuned...

Remember you have to take breaks in order to achieve stuff. Can I recommend MarioKart therapy???

By the way, congratulations for exceeding 40,000 visitors!

Well you write very eloquantly here(sorry can't spell!) , so go for it. Good luck with it and I can't wait to hear about the secret thingy!!

By the way like Babooshka, I can't think of you in an office or as anything else but a photographer :)

Firstly, Brett, as babooshka and Suburbia say, you're a photographer. That's what you are. End of. Deal with it. :-)

Secondly, hmmm... a secret hush-hush project...

Thirdly, your writing is STUNNING! Your blog has been and continues to be revelatory in so many ways. Arguably life-changing.

Fourthly, so good luck with the submission. If you can say it in your head and feel it in your heart the words will come. Although that may have been 'Field of Dreams'...

Fifthly, today's pic is utterly wonderful. One of the best, and one of my favourites, in a blog that has contained so many stunning images. See first point. I told you.

Sixthly, thanks for everything.

Don't stress too much! I have found that writing with my true voice yields better results than when I write to impress. Write true to your voice, but make sure the grammar is perfect, and you should be golden.

Good Luck!
