Blog of the week - menopausaloldbag (MOB)

"Hello Mrs A, I'm Dr B", he said smiling at her as he snapped on his latex gloves. "Now just relax for me dear", he instructed as he picked up the speculum, ready to insert. "Oh for the love of God", he stuttered in astonishment, stepping backwards.

Just what did the doctor see? To find out more you will have to rush over to this week’s Blog of the week, menopausaloldbag (MOB).

This is a blog that in the words of its creator is “The almost daily diary well almost absolutely never daily but possibly weekly, ramblings and whingeing of a fifty year old woman enjoying the joys of Gods biggest joke on women to date - NO NOT MEN - just the flippin MENOPAUSE!”

What she neglects to say is that it is also witty, thoughtful, sad, uplifting and informative. It is a very well written blog in a style that draws you in and keeps your interest, almost like having a chat with a friend, one with loads of good anecdotes and a great delivery.

The down side to this blog is that the posts are not that frequent, once you have read one you want the next, but given the length of the posts its probably a good thing as I have other things to do in a day and would only sit here and read them.
A quick thank you to every one who left comments about Kep, he is on the mend and after writing this I am calling the vets as I think he will not need to see them today, fingers crossed.

Crikey, if I wasn't female and Scottish I'd say I was speechless, but that would be a lie! I am genetically predisposed to talking people's lugs off which is why I only post now and again! Too much of a mediocre thing could kill. Really your words and deeds caught me on a day when I am most appreciative so thank you. I am delighted but it also brought a wee tear to my eye as peer acceptance is so very nice to have. You have made a menopausaloldbag's day and I am walking on air. Bless you.

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. Have you ever put something off, that you really should have done, I have, getting assessed for dyslexia. Nearly my whole life I have had problems spelling, and have done every thing to avoid getting tested, why, because I was scared that I would not have it and be told I was just thick or lazy. Well yesterday I got tested, and the results surprised me. First I was informed that my reading ability was good to high, next I was informed that I have an IQ of over 120 (140 and over Genius or near genius 120-140 Very superior intelligence 110-120 Superior intelligence 90-110 Normal or average intelligence 80-90 Dullness 70-80 Borderline deficiency Below 70 Definite feeble-mindedness 70-80 Borderline deficiency 50-69 Moron 20-49 Imbecile below 20 Idiot.) They have changed the lower classification for a more PC wording but this is the original. Lastly I was informed that I am Dyslexic and my writing and spelling were well below what my intelligence suggested (that why it takes me forever
