Wedding daze

This is the first of a set of images of places that mean something to me, and in taking them I have had to revisit those places and also go back to the time that they are connected with. It is very self indulgent, but it’s my blog and I can do almost what I want. So to start, this image is the most worked on I’ve posted and that reflex how much I wanted it here. This is the church I got married in and is here because I have so many special places that me and Caz have shared that to pick one was impossible, so this is a symbol for all of those. I love history and when visiting places I try to imagine what it was like in the past, it’s the same with these places as I visited each one it was like watching a film of the past rolling before my eyes, I could see Caz and me standing on those steps, in the later shots I could fill the spaces with people now long gone and voices now long silent, sometimes this blog takes me places I’d forgotten. Great isn’t it.

this is a beautiful picture, especially knowing that it holds a great degree of sentimental value. this was a great pick to use as a symbolic gesture. is this photo hdr?

Um, to be fairly honest, the first thing I thought when I saw this picture was, "Holy crap! That is frickin' fantastic." Yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say.

Have you ever put something off, that you really should have done, I have, getting assessed for dyslexia. Nearly my whole life I have had problems spelling, and have done every thing to avoid getting tested, why, because I was scared that I would not have it and be told I was just thick or lazy. Sun Flower by Brett Trafford

Sunflowers seem to attract artists, like most flowers attract bees and now having one of my own I’m in no doubt why. But my link to the sun flower goes back a lot further than my interest in photograph, it started way back when I was 7 or 8 years old. We lived at that time in a terrace house that backed on to a factory and was hemmed in on either side by our neighbour’s houses, both my closest friend live on a different street down the road in larger houses with gardens (we moved later into one of these houses in the same street). One of my friend planted sunflower seeds in a section of the border that his mum had given him to grow things in and this lead me to try in my own garden. That garden consisted at that time of a patch of soil the size of two key boards side by side, at the foot of a fence, used mainly as a litter tray by the local cats. Dock of the day.

Could you imagine a better spot to spend a sunny afternoon, you could just sit here and watch the world go by. Having a house that backs on to the canal myself (although from 3 fields away) I can appreciate how great it must be to have the canal at the bottom of your garden, for us seeing the first boats moored up in the spring is a definite sign that the winter has ended and from then on it’s an ever changing scene of boats and people until the autumn. Having your own mooring and boat, even one this small, must be fantastic, imagine a late summer evening, your friends sitting on the dock and sausages cooking on the barbecue, and a bag of beers cooling in the canal. ---------------- Now playing: Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now via FoxyTunes
