Hints and tips for new bloggers No1

When you chose your blog title make sure that you are happy with it and that it is accurate.

365 to 42, a year in photos, unconnected images taken by me during my 41st year.

After about a week of use Caz pointed out that it’s my 42nd year, but by then I’d signed up to various site using that as part of my profile so I let it run. Then I notice the bigger error, it’s a leap year and in fact its 366 days to my birthday, on top of that as I first posted on my birthday I really wanted to finish on my birthday, an extra days post, so 367 posts and photos in total. As for the images taken by me during the year, well they were all taken by me, but as I said very early on I intended to not restrict myself to images just taken this year as a spell of bad weather could leave me short of images, as it happened only 3 images were shot before the blog started a lot less than I would have guessed at the start.
So 365 posts and photos, but not the end of the year, or the end of the challenge and not even the end of the blog. Photo today of the Great ridge looking back towards Mam tor.

I'll miss you Brett! I'm going to say Happy Birthday now because I don't know if I'll be around this weekend. It's been great reading you over this year. Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. You known how it is, you’ve loads to do and not much time, but with a little luck and a bit of careful planning and you can fit it all in and than someone makes you BLOG OF NOTE!!!!!! WOW, Arghhhhhhhhhh!. From around 25 readers to 3451 by the end of the day, and what a post to have on the blog, I nearly did not write it, it was very personal and maybe too private to share, but I known that there are others, like me, out there and thought that if it just helped one person it made the risk worth while, well its shared now.
