Bribery and corruption

In my job I act as a liaison between the customer and some of our back room departments, customer ask me questions or give me instructions which I then translate into directives for the back room staff. After watching the news last night I’ve come up with a great idea, when the customer asked me to get something done I will offer a faster service, using my influence to grease the wheels, for a small sum paid directly to me. What do you think?
I bet most of you think this is wrong and that I should be sacked even for thinking it and I would agree, but if you are a member of the House of Lords it seems as if it is quite alright to charge upward of £100k to do just the same thing. The 3 that have been caught out so far seem to think that standing up and apologising makes it alright, wrong, I would lose my job and find my chances of working in a similar position extremely difficult.
Being a member of the House of Lords is an honour not a way to make money, the least that should happen to these people is that they lose their titles and access to the position that they have abused.
On a brighter note the first lesson of my photography course is up and running, it can be seen here, this lesson covers the basics behind how a camera works.
The photo today is of the tree again, for those of you that don’t know I have been taking photos of this tree all year watching it go from bare branches to full leaf and back again.

How true. And they claim to think that they are doing no wrong. Excuse me? If they don't even understand basic ethics what are they doing in the House of Lords?

I love the tree. Can I detect the early signs of green shoots? Don't tell Gordon Brown or he will claim credit for saving this tree.

The government? Grrrrr.

Great point, well made- I fear they think they're above being made to answer for what they've done wrong. Lovely lovely tree Brett, I miss the countryside when I read your blog!

I just discovered you blog. Your photos are so serenely elegant. Your writings are greatly appreciated.

I am turning 40 this year and your blog is a great reminder of how every day should be lived.

Thanks for sharing your year with us.
House of Lords - ridiculousness. get rid of them all! Let's just have elected people, eh?

And the photo is great, as is the song - I have tickets to see Morissey here in Paris in June. Much excitement.

I love those small fence posts on the horizon on the left side (I think they are fence posts). Love the lone tree on a hill.
