August weather

It’s August and its cold and raining. My plan for today was to go out and shoot some lovely summer views and it is looking more like November out there. Still, one of the things about doing this blog is that it needs photos regardless of what the weather is doing, so at some point today me and my camera will be getting wet, I just hope that you lot appreciate the sacrifice (for me, I could just stay in the warmth and watch DVD’s all day).

The Olympic games start this Friday and when watching the news coverage its seem to me that they are all waiting for something bad to happen, its like they have all turn into that person who tells you not to do something as it’s a bad idea (like touching an electric fence) because they would hate to see you get hurt. But then just stand back waiting for you to get hurt with a gleeful look in their eyes. I personally think that giving such an honour to a country with such a bad human rights record is wrong, but I also think that for all the people involved that the games should go smoothly and with out trouble.

To day the picture comes from the Derwent valley a place I’ve photographed before for this blog, I love to convert my landscapes into black and white, it gives you a different perspective as you focus more on the shape and texture of the land.

Beautiful. Would the clouds look that good in colour?
BTW Isn't the song called Clint Eastwood?

i am not sure if it would look good in colors.in my opinion that picture is "beautiful" and being beautiful doesn't necessarily mean that picture has to be in colors to look beautiful.

That is amazing picture.
Congrats !
I'd not thought of that perspective on landscape photography before. That'll give me something to play with today. Good luck playing in the rain - we all look forward to your captures.

Lovely. Do you sell prints, btw?

I am jealous of your weather. Here in the hell known as Texas, it's been hovering around 104 for days.
I love looking at your posts. Black and white photographs are my favorite. The different depths of shadowing are amazing. It is a visual feast to the eye.

You are my favorite link.

Yeah, ITV especially is waiting for a bomb to go off or something. I think it would be a bit sad but I've just seen tonight about investigating the victims of the earthquake and accusing the government of sweeping stuff under the carpet. I think it's because they're an ex-communist state - ITV instantly hate them!

Anyway, I bet we start sweeping stuff under the carpet when the Olympics come here in a few years. I can't see any benefit to people who live in the north like me (we have the only Olympic sized swimming pool between Leeds and Edinburgh but big whoop I don't think) - it'll go over budget big-time, taxes will go up etc... Urgh, I wish the voting screw up hadn't happened so that Madrid got it...

Oh by the way nice pic! I seem to have started waffling on and on but the b+w is v.nice!
Ciao

P.S. Thank you for your lovely comment but I was sooo not wrong about the sax thing! Besides, I can't believe you still remember it! I'm never going to live this one down am I?

Another picture that makes you think.

Which is something I haven't been doing a ton of lately as I forgot over all this time to add you to my list of blogs I like. It's done now. I hope others come your way to see your beautiful pictures as well.

I really like this picture. I took a photo of a little bridge over a creek in Sedona, AZ. It's an easy access location of a supposed vortexl.I liked it in color but love it in black & white. Keep up the excellent work.

Great image!

BTW - I totally agree with all your statements re: the Olympics. So true with human nature, hoping there will be a car wreck to gawk at.
