A woman president

So when will America take the next big step and elect a woman president? I’m just old enough to remember when we (well the adults) voted in Maggie, the shock and horror of it. For most of her time in office she was hated, or so it seemed in the press, but when the country need a strong leader she fitted the bill perfectly. In fact the comment at the time was that she had more balls than any man in her cabinet. When you think about a country is more like a household than a business, mostly because in a company there are standards of behaviour, people while not being nice to one another are mostly civil, while in a family there is no code of conduct and anything goes. Most families I know are run (and run well) by women, mostly without their husbands knowing this is the case (for my male friends reading this, not yours obviously). Give a woman a country and there’s no knowing what she might achieve.
Today’s photo is from the show on Saturday, I call it “The wait”, I wanted to use this for the blog from the moment I took it but felt I needed to ask permission first, which I now have. It was taken just before the show started, the stars were gathered in the dressing room and were all very tense, none more so than the first act, while the other chatted and joked she sat a bit apart and had a quiet moment, more focused on what was about to happen than the room and people about her. She was so stressed out just before she set foot on the stage, but delivered a fantastic performance that really did set the standard for the rest.

you remember thatcher? that's pretty sweet. i was but a wee pup back then. it'll be a while before the americans will elect a female president, but who knows maybe the mood will change in four years...

I remember thinking only women were ALLOWED to be Primeminister! I thought women ran the country because I grew up with Maggie and the Queen up there!

I really love this picture, she looks fantastic- and it's so evocative of those nerves before the show...

The image is superb,the intensity and the accompanying song just a perfect soundtrack. As for the she devil Thatcher we will have to disagree on this one. I certainly remember her, still bear the scars and the nightmares. She's no lady. I just want the right person for the job, like Obama, man, woamn, martian, just the right person.

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. You known how it is, you’ve loads to do and not much time, but with a little luck and a bit of careful planning and you can fit it all in and than someone makes you BLOG OF NOTE!!!!!! WOW, Arghhhhhhhhhh!.
