Holiday report

Monday and back to work after a week’s holiday, can there be a worst day (well yes, but on a normal day to day rating this one rates quite high). Still I get to spend some time blogging and I have a weeks worth of blog post to read on my favourite blogs, so it’s not all bad.

What I did on my holiday, a bit of back ground first for the new readers. We normally spend two weeks a year walking in the Lake District, in the north west of England, one week around March/April time and one in September or October. During these weeks we have been trying to clime all the Wainwrights (theses are fells or mountains over 1000 feet high as described in Mr Wainwrights pictorial guides). These range from small grassy hills that you can walk up in ¼ of an hour, to mountains that can take you all day, in all 214 assorted fells, crags, pikes, dodds, and mountains, and after this last week we have just 12 to do.

So that’s the back ground, now for what we did (the “we” by the way is Caz and me and sometimes are close friends Trevor and Sandra). We got wet, very wet, in fact very very wet. After all these years of walking we have never seen so much rain, so often. I think that we got rained on every day and most walks were finished in socks that you could wring out, because of this my photos are in short supply as it was often too wet to get the camera out and most of the time when it was out the view was only a few feet. The picture for today gives you a feel for what is was like, we are on one hill and the sun is playing two valleys over (a few days later we were walking up the side of that valley in the worst weather we have ever walked in).

Brett, these are stunning shots, and very atmospheric. It has been wet, hasn't it!

That really is a dramatic view - gorgeous to look at. It won't stop raining here either by the way.

It does make a stunning photo. We have found unfavorable weather on most of our summer hikes this year. Ift gives extra reason to look at the near view--the wildflowers and odd things one finds along the trailside. Of course, when we return home the clouds disperse.

Not feeling good about that. It's a let-down...

Sigh..........

We haven't had a holiday in 2 years since The Man changed jobs. Looking at these just makes me want to travel - hence the huge sigh.

So glad you got some time off Brett! Everyone deserves it!
I can feel the spirit of this shot deep within me, like thunder is felt. Amazingly beautiful.

Jeez...you never disappoint, do you? Amazing shot!
The focal point, the little beam of light is superb. One reason I had to get of finance many years ago, was monday morning blues especially after a holiday. I ork longer hours now, but at least it's on my terms.
