Inspired

I inspire people (according to the comments I get), I don’t mean to, I certainly did not set out to, but it makes me feel worth while for the first time in a long time. I work for a big company and although I feel that it is a good place to work, I feel that I make very little impact on the world doing my job, a week off sick and the place has not shut down seems to prove that. But with this blog I do seem to be having an effect on people and it seems to be a positive one. My main aim was to do something that would mark my passing and if my mark is that other people take more photos and get enjoyment from doing that than I’m very happy with that. My own photography started to improve when I started to take photos just for me, but it has jumped on by have to shoot for the blog, as in anything, if you have to do it over and over again you will improve, and with this I have to keep changing the way I shoot to keep the photos from looking all the same (having the seasons change helps a lot too).
Today’s photo comes from Rutland and after what I’ve just said this one does look like some of my other ones, but it’s a subject that I like the look of.

Another superb shot. I'm glad you are finally recongising your gift Brett. There are thousands of photographers out there, but only a handful can capture emotion, inspiration and story in the way that you do so naturally.

Oh Man! That photo just made me sigh! I love it! Of course loving water and loving boats helps doesn't it?


And yes. You do inspire Brett. Your beautiful photos made me talk The Man into buying a better camera. We are practising - and probably always will be...to get a better photo that can take the breath away like yours do.

Another epiphany for me this day. I found you thanks to Blogs of Note, and recognized your talents immediately. Checking here everyday I've been drooling over the genius, mouth-watering photography of an expert. Never did I think of you as anything but professional, so YES, you do inspire - thank goodness, and thank you!

Climate change, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical about the existence of climate change and the whole global warming thing. My basis for this is that we (humans) have only been here for such a short time and for a large period of that were not really in a position to judge what was happening around us. An even smaller period of time is the length of time we have been able to accurately measure things like temperature or the size of the ice caps, so to be able to say that things are changing outside of the norm, when we really have no idea what the norm is, is like seeing a snow flake and predicting the start of an ice age. I wrote this as part of the second days post: “365 different photos, I’m daunted and intrigued at the same time. Daunted with the task of taking the images and writing words to tie it all together and intrigued at what will be here in a year’s time. Will anybody see this? Will it make any sense?” 70,849 words, 367 photos, 3014 comments, and 43358 visitors from 164 countries later and it’s all done, I’m 42 and have the answer to those questions. Yes somebody has seen it and no it really does not make much sense, but that really does not seem to matter that much. I wanted to mark the passing of a year in my life and have ended up with a fantastic record of a year in both words and pictures. More than that it has changed my life, I have gained a confidence I never had, I can write without fear, my photography skill has improve and I realise that you can do nearly anything if you work at it. Have you ever put something off, that you really should have done, I have, getting assessed for dyslexia. Nearly my whole life I have had problems spelling, and have done every thing to avoid getting tested, why, because I was scared that I would not have it and be told I was just thick or lazy. Well yesterday I got tested, and the results surprised me. First I was informed that my reading ability was good to high, next I was informed that I have an IQ of over 120 (140 and over Genius or near genius 120-140 Very superior intelligence 110-120 Superior intelligence 90-110 Normal or average intelligence 80-90 Dullness 70-80 Borderline deficiency Below 70 Definite feeble-mindedness 70-80 Borderline deficiency 50-69 Moron 20-49 Imbecile below 20 Idiot.) They have changed the lower classification for a more PC wording but this is the original. Lastly I was informed that I am Dyslexic and my writing and spelling were well below what my intelligence suggested (that why it takes me forever
